Type of work pass available in Singapore

Work Permit (WP)

For workers from approved source countries/regions working in the construction, manufacturing, marine shipyard, process, or services sector. 

Pass validity is up to 2 years, depending on the validity of the worker’s passport, security bond, and employment period. Pass is subjected to quota restriction and levy imposed on the Employers.








For skilled workers. Candidates need to earn at least $3,000 a month.

Pass validity is up to 2 years and subjected to quota plus levy imposed on Employers.


For new applications submitted on or after 1 Sep 2022 / From 1 Sep 2023 for renewals

  • All except financial services – $3,000 (increases progressively with age, up to $4,500 for those in mid-40s)
  • Financial services – $3,500 (increases progressively with age, up to $5,500 for those in the mid-40s)

Employment Pass (EP)

For foreign professionals, managers and executives. Candidates need to earn at least $5,000 a month

Pass validity is up to 2 years (first-timers) and subsequent renewals are up to 3 years.

From 1 Sep 2023, EP candidates will have to pass a two-stage eligibility framework

  • Stage 1 – Qualifying salary
  • Stage 2 – Complementarity Assessment Framework (COMPASS) assessed over four foundational criteria and a total minimum of 40 points are required to pass.

Personalized Employee Pass (PEP)

For high-earning existing Employment Pass holders or overseas foreign professionals.

Applicants with the following can apply for a PEP

  • An overseas foreign professional and last drawn fixed monthly salary was at least $18,000, dated within 6 months before application. 
  • An existing Employment Pass holder earning a fixed monthly salary of at least $12,000. 

From 1 Sep 2023, the fixed monthly salary criteria for both EP holders and overseas foreign professionals will be increased to $22,500.
